The Unanticipated Joys of Custom Label Design
The unanticipated joys of custom label design are what make our work at Studio Brewworks so rewarding. Recently, we had the pleasure of creating labels for James and Devin’s wedding, and the process turned into something unexpectedly special. Our collaboration began entirely over email, with a bit of back-and-forth to nail down the perfect design. Though we hadn't met in person, it felt like we were working with old friends, tweaking colors and themes until the label captured the essence of their big day.
The real magic happened at the unofficial/official launch at the CSRG event at Sears Point. CSRG, for those who don’t know, stands for Classic Sports Racing Group, a community passionate about vintage racing cars. We were there auctioning off a custom label featuring a car on a can at the Charity Classic event on September 14th. It was at this lively event that I finally met James and Devin in person. Meeting them felt like reconnecting with friends I'd known for years, and it was heartwarming to hear how excited they were about their custom labels.
Their wedding day was a hit, not just because of the love in the air but because of the personal touch that came with the custom-labeled beer. Some of their guests were delighted by the unique beer being served, and when James and Devin pointed out that it was them on the can, the whole experience went up a notch for everyone. The labels added a new layer of connection and fun to their celebration.
Even four months later, James and Devin are still enjoying the last few cans of their wedding beer (despite our advice to enjoy it fresh). Knowing that our design continues to bring them joy long after their special day is incredibly meaningful to us. It’s these kinds of stories that remind us we’re not just designing labels—we’re creating lasting memories and being part of people’s most important moments. That’s the unanticipated joy of what we do, and it's what makes every project so much more than just a job.
